Location of Kebler Corner
Kebler Corner RV Park is located on the west side of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado next to a state park and near the small mining town of Somerset. It is also less than two hours from Aspen, and less than one hour from Crested Butte (when Highway 12 is open during the summer).
Right off highway 133, near McClure pass and Kebler pass, between Hotchkiss and Carbondale, Colorado. They describe their location as the corner of wilderness and main.

Area Attractions
Kebler Corner campground is an attraction in itself. The beautiful riverside location and amenities might find many visitors staying in the campground during their whole visit. But, there are some great hiking trails, boating and fishing nearby depending on the season.
The beautiful mountain towns of Redstone, Marble, Crested Butte and Aspen are not far away. And the North Fork Valley, filled with wineries, local produce, live music and festivals is only sixteen miles away too.
Though it is nestled in the mountains, it is not high altitude, so the weather is moderate and enjoyable most of the year, allowing it to be open from May through November. The campground normally closes in the winter. Summer temps mostly have daytime highs in the 80s F and some 90s, and lows in the 60s.
Within a two hour drive there are hot springs (Glenwood Springs and Ouray), Grand Mesa Uncompahgre and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Parks, white water river rafting, and virtually unlimited mountain region activities.
Amenities and Activities at Kebler Corner
Kebler Corner is a relatively small campground, on a large and scenic property. There are currently around 22 RV sites, and eight cabins. They do have plans to expand in the future.
Perhaps the best amenity offered by Kebler Corner is the location itself. Located right alongside a river in a mountain valley with mountain views, we have to say it is pretty special.
Kebler Corner also has a hammocks around the property, hummingbird feeders, a playground, small bike park, workout area, horseshoes, group fire pit, and some sites even have herb gardens. There is a frisbee golf course, and a soccer field. And hiking trails and bouldering are accessible from the property. They are adding a sand volleyball court, and upgrading the playground in the summer of 2021.
If you like fishing, know that they are flies only, and catch and release. NO rods or spinners. And they limit the river to 6 fishermen at a time, to protect Colorado’s resources.
It is a really great location because when at your campsite, you feel like you are really getting away from town. Especially with the sounds of rushing water from the river and the many birds. They also bring in live music on some weekends.

Practical Amenities
There are very clean bathrooms and a small laundry room. Kebler Corner also has an overflow parking area for folks that bring boats, or cargo trailers with their adventure toys. Another rare amenity are stalls/paddocks for those traveling with horses.
There is also a covered outdoor area for group gatherings, and a group fire pit down by the river, surrounded by little solar lanterns, which makes it easy to find in the dark.
Kebler Corner also has a great campground store, with camping gear, gifts, T-shirts, and a very well stocked liquor store. They also sell autographed copies of our book. You can also get ice, firewood, and snacks.
They do collect your trash from your campsite at 10am each morning. And friendly pets are welcome, on a leash.
Mail / WIFI
Kebler Corner has very good WIFI for internet connectivity. Which is especially important because Cellular connectivity is virtually non-existent on all three major cell phone carriers. But the WIFI means that your smartphone can make calls over WIFI.
It is a somewhat remote location, so if you are planning on receiving any packages or mail, it would probably be best to have them delivered to the post office in a nearby town. Call to check with the campground office on their current policy.

RV Site Layout and Types at Kebler Corner
All 22 RV sites are well groomed gravel, and include picnic table, fire pit, landscaping and access to green areas. Most RV sites are shaded by large trees.
Sites are close to level, so very few RVs needed leveling blocks. Power for all sites is at least 20/30amp, and about half also have 50amp. RV sites are all full hook-up (electric, water and sewer).
The RV sites are a bit narrow, but make up for it in being long, and backing up into green areas adjacent. Most sites have a nice berm with plants that provide some privacy toward the back of the site.
RV sites are all back-in, Some sites will only fit 25’ RVs, but most will accommodate larger (35’+ RVs), and are angled instead of 90 degrees for easier access. But, it is worth noting that most require backing from the passenger, not driver side which is not as common. We would consider Kebler Corner RV Park to be big rig friendly because the single road was easy to navigate with no sharp curves.
Tent sites are also available in a separate area. Tents are not allowed on RV sites, but if you are comfortable without hookups, you might choose a tent site for your RV to save a few bucks, or when the regular RV sites are full. Tent sites are primitive with no water, power or shade. But they do have a picnic table and fire pit, and are in a large flat open area, right by the river.
Cabins and Rooms at Kebler Corner

Summary
Kebler Corner is a hidden gem. It only opened in 2019 so it is still getting discovered. It is nestled in a beautiful location, and with it’s small boutique size and warm, friendly staff, it feels like a cozy and special getaway location where you can really relax. It’s also a wonderful launchpad for other mountain adventures. We have stayed here twice already in 2021, and expect to return again, as it is fast becoming a favorite.
You can meet the campground owner Emily St Ruth in this quick campfire safety tips video. Emily and her husband Paul are passionate about educating their guests and others about fire safety.
We hope you enjoy your stay at Kebler Corner as much as we have!
