Portland Fairview RV Park, as the name implies is in a suburb of Portland called Fairview. The roads into the area are excellent, This RV park is very easy to access just a couple blocks off of Interstate 84. Though future visits will be $20/night for us because of our recent purchase of the Trails Collection upgrade, this particular stay was comp’d by the campground in exchange for our honest review.

For more detail about the specifics of this RV park, sites, and amenities – including pros and cons – read on.

Location of Portland Fairview RV Park

Being a campground near Portland, it is easy to access. Roads in the area are very good.  There are fuel stations and grocery stores 5-15 minutes away, and any other convenience of a larger city within a short drive. It is very near the Columbia River Gorge for easy access to nature as well. There is a train line near the lower section of the campground, but only trains rolling by, no horns. We experienced some road noise and occasional airplanes, but not super loud.

It is actually very peaceful considering how close it is to a larger city. Elevation is less than 100 feet. There are residential neighborhoods and also commercial property in the surrounding area, and only a mile or two from the Columbia River and parks.

Area Attractions

Being a suburb of Portland, you will have access to all Portland attractions, which we imagine are a draw for many of the shorter term visitors. The RV park is also only 16 miles from Multnomah falls and the many other water falls and nature trails in the Columbia River Gorge. Unfortunately, our stay was shortly after major forest fires in the area, which closed many of the great hiking trails nearby.

The RV park is only a short drive from a public park along side the Columbia River with nice boat ramps for river access. More advanced road cyclists will find many roads to bike in the area with good shoulders and bike lanes, but will have vehicle traffic.  This picture below is from Silver Falls State park, which was about an hour and a half south of Portland.

Amenities at Portland Fairview RV Park

The upper section of the RV park has the main office, a clubhouse, pool, laundry room and showers. Laundry room machines can be operated with a credit card via a central terminal, or with quarters. There is a second laundry room in the lower section, and a spa/hot tub. But the hot-tub is a little odd in that it has a simple chain link fence and is in the middle of the campground with RVs and vehicles parked nearby. It might feel a bit more relaxing if there was a bit more privacy.

There are 4 buildings with restrooms and showers, and a fitness center with exercise machines. Portland Fairview RV Park has a storage area for RVs and also some storage units. They have very good recycling program as well. We were also happy to see that they allow washing of your vehicles for a $5 fee because we were overdue to wash our RV. Plus, being a concrete pad site helps the RV stay clean even if it rains. Not sure if it is an amenity, but we also liked the duck pond. We picked up some duck food from the main office to feed them, and the ducks came right up to us.

Roads and sites at Portland Fairview were very nice

Spa was a bit strange, feeling like it is very exposed and almost like being in a parking lot next to RV sites.  But, for the most part, we liked this RV park.  Pool was much better location.

Mail / Packages

We were very excited that Portland Fairview RV Park does accept mail and packages for guests. If receiving mail, it can be received at the main office. If receiving packages from UPS or FedEx, be sure to include your site number as they will deliver directly to your site.

WIFI / Cable

They appear to have fast and reliable high speed internet for $35/month, and nearly 50 channels of cable service offered at this RV park. We use our own data with Verizon and T-Mobile, so we didn’t try their internet. Verizon and T-Mobile both had 3-4 bars of LTE signal so connectivity speeds were good.

RV Sites at Portland Fairview RV Park

All the internal roads are wide, well maintained, paved asphalt surface. All sites are concrete pads, with grassy areas between most sites and frequent mature trees. It is a larger than average RV Park with over 400 sites. Portland Fairview RV campground is terraced into four sections which makes it feel much smaller than it is. The top section has about 75 sites and is only for nightly and weekly stays.

The remaining 330 sites are for monthly stays and are nearly full, which says something about the desirability. Sites all appear pretty level and extremely well maintained. Most sites are pull throughs, but there are about 160 back in sites. All sites are full hook-up with 50amp electricity.

Portland Fairview RV Park is definitely big rig friendly. In fact, the vast majority of RVs here would be considered a big rig by most. With mostly pull through sites and mostly longer term tenants, one would expect larger rigs. Certainly not all sites can accommodate 40+ foot RVs. But we would guess that more than three quarters of the sites would easily accommodate that size. Most all rigs were relatively modern RVs and in great condition. It is a very attractive park, even down to painted markers for hook-ups and lighted posts with site numbers. There are not any rental cabins, only RV sites.

This RV park does restrict the age of RVs to reduce liability of older RVs on site and maintain appearance. RVs in the monthly stay area must be less than 10 years old, and RVs in the nightly section must be less than 15 years old.

PROS

  • Fantastic level concrete sites with grassy areas and trees
  • Proximity to Portland and the Columbia River Gorge
  • Friendly staff and mostly long term guests create neighborhood feel
  • One of the best maintained Thousand Trails parks we have ever stayed at

CONS

  • Some road noise  in the upper section, and some train and airplane noise being close to a city
  • Still a $20/night fee, even for Thousand Trails Members who have the upgraded Trails Collection
  • Spa was a bit odd feeling like you are in the middle of a parking lot

Rates at Portland Fairview RV Park

Nightly rates with Good Sam or AAA discounts are around $57 in the winter and a bit over $60/night in the summer. Most of the sites are month to month, and during the fall winter season are $695/month. Thousand Trails members who have added the Trails Collection membership, or otherwise have this campground as part of their membership will pay a $20 nightly fee to stay here. The campground is open year round.

  1. I see this review is from your stay in 2017. Reading your review and the ones now for 2022 sounds like two different places. The recent reviews are horrible whereas your review is “glowing”. Too bad the park has gone so downhill.
