Our Year of RV Life & Travel in Under 3 Minutes

When I decided to sit down and create a video summary to share our year of travel in 2016, I completely underestimated the task at hand. Suddenly I realized… we had traveled so far and wide, seen so many amazing places and had so many memorable experiences – back to back – that I hadn’t had (or made) the time to review and cull our video footage and photos along the way. This quickly became my New Year project – and a ginormous goal! How on earth could I share this epic year in less than an hour, let alone in under 20 minutes…?

I turned to our Facebook group for advice – would you prefer a short video of 2-3 minutes? 5-6 minutes or a longer, more dynamic video with facts and stats in the 10-15 minute range? Fellow RVers short on bandwidth voted for the short 2-3 minute version. A few voted for the mid range but the vast majority said they preferred a longer video, where we share more in depth experiences, detail and info of the year that was.

I decided to do both. Create a short video (this one as a kind of mini teaser trailer) and a longer one (still underway). Ironically, creating the short video has taken WAY more time (I stopped counting at 50 hours!) than the longer one will come in at.

But we think the end result is an energetic, fun and diverse taste of our RV life and travels in 2016. We love that it encapsulates so many highlights and extraordinary places, and we hope it makes you feel like you’re on board with us for the journey.

So without further ado, here’s our bandwidth friendly “Year of RV Life & Travel in under 3 minutes” 🙂 Hope you enjoy it!

And stay tuned for the deeper dive, coming soon to a YouTube channel near you 🙂

In our longer 2016 recap video, we’ll go into more detail, show longer clips and share some of our milestones, including miles traveled, states visited, breakdowns, repairs and more, to give a more thorough overview of our RV Life and Travels in 2016. Coming soon!

  1. Hi

We have an identical Tiffin 2013 QBA. We had the table top made longer by about 5″, removed the valance window covers that cut into ones back and shoulders, left the tops to hide the blinds. New radio that has blue tooth and made a new slide for the screen door. The new one is clear plastic with a handle on the inside. Fits in the old track that the original one was in. Also installed new tank digital system and moved the receiver to just under the rear heat/ ac controller.
Just some ideas that we had.
Have started to put sumosprings on the from. Will try them first and may do the back next winter.
    Love the coach.

  2. That’s an awesome video! How do you organize all your video clips so that you can easily find them and know what’s what? That’s my biggest hurdle currently. I have a great system for my pictures, but I’m stumped with the video files. Would love to hear about any methods that you’ve found that work well.

    • Hi Jenifer, I wish I could tell you I have a terribly organized system but I am stumped too. Currently my video files are simply in the Photos Library of my Mac, and I had to trawl through a year of footage to find the highlights and make this video – I estimate 50-60 hours of sorting, culling and editing. A huge task but worth it. I hope to be much better organized in the coming years – what is your photos system as I really need to lift my game there too (also in Photos) to become more efficient.

  3. I also enjoyed the video we are going full time just not knowing to get a gas or Diesel engine. I also looked at your video of first time driving that is what is giving our nerves a work out. A little apprehensive.

    • Hi Sandy and Allen, how very exciting for you! Yes driving an RV can create some anxiety for sure but no matter which rig you end up with, you can always do some driving classes to build confidence and learn the techniques. In fact we would highly recommend those. Gas vs Diesel is a personal choice – take your time and do your homework… Diesels do drive differently and better but there’s also a hefty price tag – and not just the purchase price – maintenance, servicing etc. Hence why we chose a newer gas over an older diesel… that said, we could see ourselves in a diesel someday, when our finances allow it! Hope that helps 🙂
